Michael Thompson & Family Meal Train

Cabot, AR

W
Story

Michael Thompson is preparing for a laryngectomy on Tuesday June 2, 2026, following years of complications caused by radiation treatment he received during his successful battle with throat cancer approximately 15 years ago. While Michael has thankfully remained cancer-free, the long-term effects of radiation have caused significant damage to his larynx, resulting in difficulty swallowing and limitations with breathing. This surgery is intended to improve both and help restore his quality of life. As Michael begins this recovery journey, his daughter, Jennifer Thompson, will be serving as his primary caregiver. Jennifer is a dedicated member of our church family who faithfully serves as both a nurse and a member of the That.Church Security Team. Jennifer's brother will also be traveling from Kansas to help care for their father during this time. Ways You Can Help: E-Gift Cards (Preferred) The family's greatest need is currently meal e-gift cards, which provide flexibility for meal delivery, household needs, pharmacy expenses, and other recovery-related necessities that may arise during Michael's recovery. Preferred gift card options include: * DoorDash * Walmart * Pharmacy gift cards * Taco Bell * Dairy Queen * Tropical Smoothie Cafe * Shotgun Dan's Pizza Meal Drop-Offs (Alternative) Complete meals are also welcome and may be dropped off at the family's doorstep. Please note: Meals only need to serve two people: Jennifer and her brother. Due to the nature of his surgery and recovery, Michael will not be able to eat regular meals during this period. While meals for the caregivers are appreciated, gifts and support that help meet Michael's medical, recovery, and household needs are especially meaningful. Above all else, we ask for your prayers. Please pray for Michael as he undergoes surgery on June 2nd, for wisdom and steady hands for his surgeons and medical team, for a successful procedure free from complications, and for strength, comfort, and peace throughout his recovery. Please also pray for Jennifer and her family as they navigate the physical, emotional, and logistical challenges of caregiving during this season. Thank you for helping care for Michael, Jennifer, and their family through meals, gift cards, encouragement, and prayer. Your generosity allows them to focus on healing and recovery while being reminded that they are deeply loved and supported by their church family. *This Meal Train has been arranged by the That.Church Sherwood Care Team on behalf of the Thompson family.*
