As many of you know, Erin Noonan has been battling a devastating condition called pyoderma gangrenosum for over three years, leaving her bedridden and facing challenges most of us can’t even imagine. Recently, Erin received some wonderful news that her condition may finally be healing. Unfortunately, the damage to her leg was already too severe, and just two days ago, she underwent an amputation. What makes Erin’s situation especially complicated is that this isn’t a typical recovery from an amputation. Because of her history with pyoderma gangrenosum, her surgical wound requires extremely specialized care and close monitoring to minimize the risk of the condition returning or affecting the healing process. This means Erin will need to transition to a long-term care facility equipped to manage her complex wound care needs, making an already difficult recovery even more challenging. As if that weren’t enough for one family, Thomas has been facing some serious health challenges of his own. Just within the past couple of months, he was diagnosed with a severe case of Hashimoto’s disease, an autoimmune condition that affects the thyroid. Now, while trying to navigate Erin’s hospitalization and recovery, he is also dealing with a major gout flare that landed him in the emergency room yesterday. Both of them are facing significant medical challenges at the same time, and Thomas is doing everything he can to remain by Erin’s side while managing his own health. Erin is currently hospitalized at Providence and will eventually transition to a long-term wound care facility. Thomas has been able to stay overnight with her at the hospital, but once she moves, he’ll only be able to spend his days there. Between his own health challenges, caring for Erin, and everything else they’re navigating, something as simple as preparing a healthy meal has become incredibly difficult. This is where I’m hoping we can come together and make their lives just a little easier. I’m organizing a gift card drive to help take one thing off their plates, quite literally. Both Erin and Thomas really enjoy cold-pressed juices and healthy meals, and several local businesses offer delivery through Door Dash, Uber Eats and Grubhub. My hope is to collect gift cards now so they can order nutritious meals and juices without worrying about shopping, cooking, or finding the energy to prepare food. Once Erin is settled into her next stage of recovery, I’d also love to organize a meal train for them. After three incredibly difficult years, and with a long road of recovery still ahead, I can’t imagine how physically and emotionally exhausted they both must be. We can’t take away what they’re going through, but we can make sure that a healthy meal is one less thing they have to worry about. Whether it’s a $10 gift card or something more, every little bit will help. More than anything, I want Erin and Thomas to feel the love and support of the community around them. Thank you to everyone willing to help these two through such an incredibly difficult chapter.
As Erin and Thomas heal if you are visiting.. these two LOVE low sugar cold pressed juices so bring one by!. Example: Celery based, low sugar vegetables. Both Pure & Pressed and Market Juice are super helpful if you walk in! They are both trying to eat as healthy as possible so please keep this in mind and encourage them!
