Welcome to Carinsa’s Crew ❤️ As many of you know, Carinsa has recently been diagnosed with Stage 4 rectal cancer with metastasis to the liver. She has begun treatment with her team of amazing doctors working extra hard to give her the best possible outcome, and she is facing this journey with incredible strength, courage, hope, and determination. This page was created to keep family and friends connected, share updates, and coordinate support throughout treatment. As the weeks and months ahead unfold, there will be opportunities to help with meals, grocery deliveries, food delivery gift cards, transportation to appointments, and other practical needs for Carinsa and her family. Cancer affects more than the person receiving treatment—it impacts the entire family. By coming together as Carinsa’s Crew, we can help ease some of the daily burdens and allow her to focus her energy on healing. As most of us know, treatment starts a little "easier", but it gets more challenging week by week, month by month, so the family needs our support for the LONG HAUL. Whether you provide a meal, a ride, a gift card, a prayer, or simply words of encouragement, every act of kindness matters and is deeply appreciated!! Thank you for surrounding Carinsa and her family with love, support, and hope. One day at a time. One treatment at a time. One step at a time. Together. ❤️
Carinsa's particular chemo causes a very painful intolerance to anything cold in her mouth, on her hands, or feet. Everything she consumes has to be warmed up or room-temperature. So unfortunately, ice cream won't be a sweet treat she can have....dang it. Currently, she is sticking to a pretty bland diet to avoid nausea, and she can not have any hot & spicy food. WT and Gabby are open to certain casseroles, but always shoot them a text if you plan to cook for them. WT likes lasagna, chicken spaghetti, and meat-lover's pizzas. They usually shop at Kroger or Walmart for groceries. They use DoorDash & Uber Eats for food deliveries. Carinsa likes most foods, but here are a few things on the bland side she says she likes: Tortilla soup - not spicy Chicken noodle soup Sweet potatoes Cottage Cheese (warmed up or used in a recipe) Mashed potatoes Mac-n-cheese Margarita pizza Rice Dot's pretzels - all flavors Trader Joe's ginger turmeric tea Fairlife Core Protein shakes in chocolate or vanilla *She can't eat or drink anything too acidic - so no lemonade or lemon-lime, etc.
