Recovery Support for Bex

W
Story

If you know me at all you know that I am typically an independent person and am really not great at asking for help. Everything in life seems to be getting more and more expensive so asking people to put their money into something that doesn't benefit their own living is rough. However, community is so important to me, and I truly believe that if you don't lean on others when you need to, then they won't feel like they can lean on you when they need it. So, because of that (and years of therapy) I'm doing the thing, & asking for help. *starts nervously sweating* So, the important stuff... TOP SURGERY! My surgery date is soon, October 28th, 2026. I am SO excited to feel like I can finally hold my shoulders back and stand proudly without overthinking what is protruding from my chest. I've been dealing with body dysmorphia for so long now, and it is an added anxiety that I so badly want to let go of. I have been hanging out on the waitlist since for a year and a half, but now that I have my surgery date everything feels like it's moving so quickly. I am sure that's just nerves though. I am so lucky that the surgery will be covered by my insurance, but I still need help with everything else. I do have some PTO I am able to use, but I am asking for donations to help me with bills and food during my recovery. Typically, the first week or so after surgery, you need someone to help take care of you. To do cooking, cleaning, errands etc... Only problem is, I live alone in a studio apartment. Because I won't be able to cook/clean, I will probably be ordering a lot of door dash, and possibly having someone come help clean + do laundry. This is where you all come in! *nervous sweating again* If you are able to help out, you will be keeping me fed, keeping me sane, and helping me heal smoothly! -Bringing cooked meals over that I can pop in the oven, or microwave would be very cool. -If you have experience walking a strong dog, taking Nova for walks or to the park would be amazing. He is a pit-mix and is forever excited about life, and so full of love. -Helping with cleaning, especially dishes or the bathroom. I can't imagine these will be something I am able to do myself the first week or two. Thank you SO MUCH for caring enough even to just read or share this. I love you all eternally and I am so grateful to be surrounded by people who care about me and want me to be my happiest and most authentic self. With love, Bex
