Story
Our hearts are heavy as we share the passing of Richard Barbee — a beloved husband, father, teacher, mentor, and friend. Richard was more than an AP English teacher at Bonham High School; he was a light in the lives of so many students, encouraging them to think deeper, care bigger, and believe in the power of words. He leaves behind his wife, Michelle Barbee, a treasured kindergarten teacher at Finley-Oates Elementary, and their child, Theo — a current high school student at Bonham. The Barbees are woven into the very fabric of our community, having poured so much love and dedication into our students and families. Now, it’s our turn to hold them up. As Michelle and Theo navigate this immense loss, we’re asking for help to lighten their load in any way we can. Meals, groceries, financial donations, and gift cards (especially for local restaurants or stores) will make a meaningful difference in their day-to-day as they grieve and begin to heal. Thank you for showing up for a family who has shown up for so many. Every act of kindness matters. Every meal, every dollar, every shared memory is a thread in the net that will catch them when they need it most. With love and gratitude, The friends and family of the Barbees.
Special Notes
Important note: The Barbee family follows a gluten-free and vegan diet, so please keep that in mind when contributing meals or gift cards for food.
