On Wednesday, July 22, I will be having a FULL Knee Replacement on my right knee. My surgery is scheduled for 7:30am at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in O'Fallon IL, and will be done by Dr. David Shervin. I will be spending the night in the hospital. My friend, Christal Cooper, will be taking me to the hospital and is bringing me home the following day. She is going to stay with me the 1st night I'm home to monitor and offer assistance. The following day a nurse will come by to check my incision. I will be having therapy at home 2-3 times a week, until the doctor releases me to do out-patient therapy, approximately 2 weeks after the surgery. I live alone; just me and Gus, my 16 year old Siberian cat. I do not have any family to support me during this time, so I will be relying on the help and kindness of the wonderful people God has placed in my life. Some things I will need help with: meals for at 2-4 weeks, help with chores & cat care, grocery shopping, and transportation to appts. Dr Shervin says I won't be able to drive for 6 weeks; my goal is 4 weeks. I know people have responsibilities and commitments so ANY time that you can help out, even for 15 min to check in on me and take out my trash, would be appreciated. After 15 years of pain and decreasing physical limitations God has made a way for me to finally get this surgery. I know that He will provide for my needs in EVERY part of this journey. Thank you ALL in advance for your thoughts, prayers, and help. Love, Christine 272 Eagle Ridge O'Fallon IL 62269 (618) 741-3205
TRANSPORTATION: Next week I start outpatient PT and will need rides. If you’re available please consider this. I will not be able to access a vehicle that is low to the ground or extremely high; crossovers or SUV's would be best. Also, MY vehicle, a Honda CRV, is available; anyone who drives it will be covered under my policy with Country Insurance.
