Assistance for Brian Mohlis

W
Story

From Jen's FB post Some of you already know, on June 2nd I received a phone call from Allen Hospital letting me know that Brian had been taken to the ER after possibly falling off a tractor, and Brian wanted me to come down. About 10 minutes later, I got the phone call nobody ever wants to receive. I was informed that Brian needed to be airlifted to the University of Iowa Hospitals after doctors discovered a brain bleed on the front right side of his head. Brian was admitted to the ICU, and we were told that the brain bleed was stable, but his blood pressure was extremely high. On the evening of June 4th, he was transferred to the neurology unit after his blood pressure was brought under control. While there, his heart went into atrial fibrillation (AFib), creating another challenge in his recovery. Brian's short term memory has also been affected. He does not remeber what happened. But, on a positive note he knows who people are that has visited him and remembers things from the past. Today, he was finally discharged after doctors were able to get his heart rate where they wanted it. Lyle was kind enough to make the trip to Iowa City and transport Brian to MercyOne Rehabilitation in Waterloo, where he will be staying. At this time, we're unsure how long his rehabilitation stay will be. If anyone would like to visit, please reach out to me and I can provide the details. Lexi, Becca, and I are incredibly grateful to the coworker who found Brian and got help when he needed it most. We are also so thankful for all the love, support, text messages, phone calls, and prayers we have received. I am also incredibly lucky to have an employer that understands the situation I am in. A special thank you to Tim Joebgen and Kay Joebgen for taking such wonderful care of Colt (hopefully he hasn't been too much of a handful 😊). We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Kim Harmening , Christine M McCubbin , Amanda Harmening-Mildenstein , Lyle Mohlis , Kevin Mohlis and Dakota Quass for all of your help and support during this difficult time. Brian has a long road to recovery ahead of him, but we know he has an incredible support system standing behind him every step of the way. Thank you again all for your continued prayers, encouragement, and support.

Special Notes

Brian will be going home June 24th and Jen is in need of some assistance. Brian will need someone to be with him during the day for a while to remind him to take his medication, to get up and get ready for the day, walk next to him when he goes to the bathroom or moves from room to room (he will have a walker with him), and heat up lunch for him. Monday thru Friday through August If you are unable to come at 4 am when Jen leaves it may be possible for one of their family members to come in from 4 to 6 am. Please don't let the early time discourage you from helping! She is in need of whatever help she can get!!
