Two Minutes From Home — A Split Second Changed Everything

Coraopolis, PA

Story

Sam, and her boyfriend Zach. On February 9th, 2026, their lives changed forever. They were driving home on Beaver Grade Road in Moon Township — literally two minutes from home. The roads were empty. It was late. They were almost there. As we continued down Beaver Grade, they noticed a white SUV swerving back and forth, crossing into the wrong lane. There were no other cars on the road. Within seconds, everything happened so fast. “All I remember is seeing the white SUV’s headlights and front end coming straight at us. Then impact. We were hit head-on.” Both Sam and Zach taken by separate ambulances to Allegheny General Hospital and rushed into the trauma unit. Not knowing how badly the other was hurt was one of the most terrifying parts of the night. Test after test was done. Results came in slowly. The other driver was found to be at fault. He is believed to have been under the influence and had no insurance on the vehicle he was driving. ⸻ Zach’s Injuries • Concussion • Torn chest muscle • Severe muscle pain from impact • Facial bruising • Seatbelt bruising • Post-traumatic depression & anxiety Zach’s Plan of Care • Ongoing concussion follow-ups • Follow-up for torn chest muscle • Mental health support Physically, Zach is improving day by day. Mentally, it will take time. ⸻ Sam’s Injuries • Left wrist fractures (severe) • Detached muscle in left hip • Stitches in left lower abdomen • Severe muscle pain, especially in her back • Post-traumatic depression & anxiety Sam’s Plan of Care • Follow-ups with surgeon and trauma team • In-home physical therapy • In-home occupational therapy • In-home nursing care Her wrist injury is severe, and doctors have warned her may never regain full range of motion. PT and OT will be working with her multiple times a week once cleared. The detached muscle in her hip makes walking extremely painful. At her next follow-up, we will find out whether surgery is needed or if it can heal slowly on its own. Sam already struggled with depression and anxiety before this accident, and now I will need continued professional support to navigate this trauma. ⸻ Our Life Before the Accident Zach owns SERVEZ, a landscaping and junk removal company that we built from the ground up. We have poured our time, energy, and hearts into growing our business and building our name in the community. Now, with both of them unable to work and their vehicle completely totaled, bills continue to come in. We are asking for help with their: • Medical expenses • Household bills • Food and daily necessities “We never imagined we would be in this position. But we are choosing faith over fear and taking things one day at a time.” We are beyond grateful to everyone who has donated, shared their story, or simply reached out with love and support. Your kindness means more than words can express. ❤️ “Two minutes from home changed our lives forever — but we are still here, and we are fighting every day to heal.” Updates will be posted throughout this journey to recovery.
