Team Nathan: Fighting Cancer Together

Bryan, TX

Story

Dear friends and loved ones, We hope this message finds you well. Today, we are writing to share something very heavy that is close to our hearts and has shaken our family in ways we never imagined. Our sweet Nathan Caldwell, just 9 years old, has been diagnosed with germinoma cancer that has invaded his brain. Nathan is the younger brother of Natalie and big brother to Noah, and these children are the light of our lives. He is the kindest little boy you will ever meet β€” always putting others first and easily bringing joy to those around him. His tender heart and gentle spirit have always made him special, and now he is being asked to show a strength no child should ever have to face. This heartbreaking diagnosis comes on the heels of another struggle: Nathan’s older sister Natalie has just completed treatment and recovered from Rosai-Dorfman disease. For Kimberly, their devoted mom, this is now the second devastating medical battle in the family in such a short time. The weight she carries is unimaginable. Now, Nathan is undergoing aggressive chemotherapy every three weeks, with the hope of finishing treatment by January. The journey ahead will be long and difficult. Treatments are intensive for such a little guy, and the day-to-day demands β€” hospital visits, travel, missed work, caring for Natalie and Noah β€” have stretched our family beyond what we could ever bear alone. We are not accustomed to asking for help, but for Nathan, our pride must give way to hope and community. We have created this Give InKind page so that friends, family, neighbors, and kindhearted supporters can come together to help. Support is welcome in so many forms: πŸ’™ A meal on the table for the family πŸ’™ A gift card for groceries, gas, or meal delivery πŸ’™ Help with errands or household needs πŸ’™ A donation to help the family with their bills and other regular expenses πŸ’™πŸ’™ Most importantly β€” holding Nathan and our family in your prayers πŸ’™πŸ’™ Nathan’s smile has always been a source of light in our family, and we are determined to see it shine again. Your love, kindness, and generosity help carry us through and give Nathan every chance to heal. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for standing with us in this fight. We feel your love, and we are so deeply grateful. With love and gratitude, The Caldwell & Mathis Families
