Supporting the Schaefer Family

Muncie, IN

W
Story

Brandon Schaefer is 27 years old and the kind of person who genuinely touches the lives of everyone he meets. Jay and Brandon have been married since 2023, and are both part of the Ball State Family. He is an employee with University Catering, but is a friend of the Miller College of Business and University College. If you know Brandon, you probably know him for stopping by to chat, building connections across campus, and occasionally sneaking candy from the OSSE office in MCOB while catching up with Miller and UC college friends. Brandon was diagnosed with T-Cell ALL, a rare and aggressive leukemia, in September 2025. He achieved an initial remission in October, but has had a sudden relapse as of March 18th that is affecting his nervous system. (Brain and spine). This has lead to a sudden hospitalization and the need for an intensive course of treatment in Indianapolis, including chemo and close neurological care. Eventually, Brandon will be in need of a bone marrow transplant, for a best chance at long term survival, and hopeful cure. Any support means more to the Schaefer family than they can express.

Special Notes

Brandon is currently on a pureed diet. He is receiving treatment at the Simon Cancer Center. Flowers are not permitted in the hematology wing.
