Our Dad is currently in the hospital facing a serious and unexpected heart condition. He has been diagnosed with congestive heart failure, and on the morning of Monday August 31st he will be having open-heart surgery. This has all happened incredibly quickly, and our family is trying to navigate the fear and uncertainty that comes with it. He will spend the days following surgery in the ICU on life support, and will soon after start the long road to recovery. As a family, we are working to keep life as balanced as possible while also taking care of our dad and mom during this incredibly difficult time. Thus, getting 3 meals on the table each day is something that won’t be feasible. We are lucky to have so many incredible people in our lives that have reached out with support, donated, and gave a helping hand. Following the requests from many, we have made this website to open the doors to those who are able and willing to help our family maintain some normalcy. Our parents have spent their lives taking care of other people. Right now, we’re hoping we can help take care of them, and take as much stress off their plates as possible. Thank you to everyone who has and continues to support us. We will never be able to properly thank you all.
Unfortunately, given the severity of this surgery, our dad will have to follow a strict diet. Here are some important guidelines: * Foods to Include * • Lean Proteins: skinless chicken, fish, eggs, tofu, beans, and lentils • High-Fiber Whole Grains: oats, quinoa, brown rice, and whole-wheat bread • Fresh Fruits and Vegetables: Colorful produce such as berries, leafy greens, and citrus fruits • Healthy Fats: Olive oil, small amounts of avocados and walnuts * Foods to Limit or Avoid * •High Sodium / Salt • Saturated and Trans Fats • Added Sugars If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out!
