Supporting Jason Youngkrantz Family

Olivia, MN

Story

UPDATE: We now have a surgery date scheduled for December 10, 2025. The surgical team has been able to obtain more detailed imaging of the mass, including advanced 3D scans. With this new information, the surgeons have been able to provide us with a clearer understanding of what to expect. They’ve shared that the procedure will likely be an all-day surgery involving all three specialists — the thoracic, vascular, and spine surgeons. Following the surgery, Jason is expected to stay in the hospital for approximately one week for recovery and close monitoring. While we’re grateful to finally have a date and a detailed plan in place, it’s fair to say that we’re still feeling anxious about the process and what lies ahead. Jason, however, remains optimistic and is looking forward to spending Thanksgiving surrounded by both of our families. We’re planning for him to spend Christmas focused on healing and recovery. Thank you all for your continued prayers, encouragement, and support — it truly means so much to us during this time. — The Youngkrantz Family Supporting Jason in a Difficult Season We never imagined we’d be writing something like this, but our friend and co-worker Hannah and her family are walking through an incredibly difficult season. On August 28th and 29th, Hannah’s husband, Jason, underwent a series of medical tests—including CT scans, a chest X-ray, and an MRI. The results revealed a large mass, about 7.4 cm, located in his chest and neck, pressing on his trachea and major arteries. After an anxious wait, we’re incredibly relieved to share that the mass is not cancerous. The pathology report confirmed it is a Schwannoma—a rare, typically benign tumor that develops from the protective lining of nerves. While it is not malignant, the mass is still causing serious complications in Jason’s daily life. Jason is currently unable to walk long distances, lift his daughter, or hold her for more than 15 minutes. He experiences constant pain, shortness of breath, and visual disturbances, which have made it so he is unable to work. Doctors have estimated that he will be out of work for at least six months—possibly longer—depending on the treatment plan. He has a long road ahead, beginning with more appointments and testing. He’ll meet with a neurologist to determine if or how the mass is impacting his brain, followed by consultations with a thoracic surgeon to evaluate whether the tumor can be surgically removed. There is also a possibility that radiation treatment will be needed to shrink the mass before surgery is considered. To us, Jason isn’t just Hannah’s husband. He’s a devoted father, son, and friend to many. His 10-year-old son, Hunter, and 4-month-old daughter, Parker, mean the world to him. Right now, instead of being able to focus fully on his health and his family, Jason and Hannah are also facing overwhelming financial stress. Medical bills, travel expenses, and extended time away from work are quickly adding up. As Hannah’s co-workers, we want to support their family in this season and help lift some of this burden. That’s why we’re reaching out and asking for your help. Any donation, no matter how small, will make a meaningful difference—allowing Jason to focus on what matters most: healing, and being present with his wife and children. If you’re not in a place to give financially, please know your prayers, love, and words of encouragement are just as important and deeply appreciated. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for standing with Jason, Hannah, and their family, and for surrounding them with love during this incredibly hard season. Venmo @Jason-Youngkrantz-1 Donations are also accepted through Concorde Bank in Blomkest and Willmar.
