Story

Katherine Major is having Whipple surgery on June 23rd at 7:00 am. It is a 6 to 8 hour surgery. The surgery and recovery will be in the Roberts building on the second floor. We will inform you of when you can go visit her in her hospital room. There is a No FLOWERS rule for this hospital. Katherine is expected to be in the hospital for seven days. Her recovery period will be for eight weeks. She will be staying in Waxahachie at her parent's house. A tumor was discovered and this surgery will be taking out many parts of her digestive tract. Reconstructive surgery will be done to connect the small intesting to the stomach and bile duct. There are many risks that can happen to make her healing journey very painful and complicated. Katherine and her family have been preparing for this operation since Mother's Day in May. She had contracted Jaundice and her amazing doctor rushed her through to have several tests done. This required her to be transfered to Big Baylor in Dallas. More test revealed the tumor and need to have a Pre-Laprscopic surgery conducted to evaluate progress since May. Then the Whipple surgery done after that. All in the same day. Katherine's Family will be in different places as they take turns caring for her. They will be in need of food gift cards or money for gas. Katherine will have a special lowfat protien diet as she begins to introduce foods back into her system. Thank you for showing your love and support to Kathy and her family during this season of life.
