Poppy June Eul

W
Story

On Monday morning, March 23rd, Michelle went to wake two‑year‑old Poppy and found her unresponsive and blue in her crib. The night before, Poppy had a mild fever, which had been treated with ibuprofen before she enjoyed a movie with her sisters. Everything had seemed routine. Michelle immediately called 911 when finding Poppy. EMS arrived quickly and stabilized her before transporting her to Fairview Southdale Hospital, and was later transferred to Masonic Children’s Hospital for more specialized care. Since that morning, Poppy has not regained responsiveness. Her imaging showed significant swelling in her brain, with areas concerning for brain damage. Her medical team’s leading diagnosis is Adenovirus- associated Acute Necrotizing Encephalitis (ANE) — a rare and extremely serious neurological condition that can appear suddenly. Poppy required an emergent neurosurgical procedure, including the placement of an external ventricular drain (EVD), to relieve pressure on her brain. Despite all efforts, her intracranial pressure continues to be a concern. Michelle and Kris are at Poppy’s bedside around the clock. They are holding her, speaking to her, and praying with everything they have for a miracle. Their love for their daughter is immeasurable, and they are drawing strength from every message, prayer, and gesture of support. As a family, we are devastated, hopeful, overwhelmed, and grateful — all at once. Your love and prayers mean so much to all of us, and especially to Michelle and Kris as they navigate this unimaginable situation. We will continue to share updates here as we learn more. Please keep lifting up Poppy June asking for a miracle, and please hold Michelle, Kris, and their precious girls close in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you for surrounding them with such love.
