Story
Hi everyone. I wanted to share my story and some testimony. One night getting ready for bed (4/6), I found a lump... which was a miracle to begin with because I hadn't been doing any self exams or keeping up on my regular screenings or OB checkups for a few years. I didn't even have a conscious thought about doing an exam that night, my arms just moved on their own and I know it was God pointing out the lump saying "Hey, you need to do something about this." I made an appointment through mychart to get it checked... next available was 4/21, so I took it. First thing the next morning a nurse calls and says, "Hey, I saw that you found a lump and I thought you'd like to come in earlier than the 21st. I have a cancellation tomorrow if you'd like it." (God worked through her too, so this was 4/9). My doctor didn't think it was anything serious but ordered a mammogram and ultrasound because it was a new lump. When scheduling these, most locations were booking 3 weeks out... then we found an opening at Grant for the following Monday (4/14). So the imaging on 4/14 was read immediately and the radiologist sat me down and said it's "highly suspicious of malignancy". They set me up to meet a breast surgeon on Wednesday and ordered a biopsy for that Thursday (4/17). Results came back on 4/21... invasive ductal carcinoma, grade 3. The most common kind of breast cancer, but also aggressive. Clinically, it's an early stage 2 at this point, but I have been feeling it change shape and get bigger every few days since I found it. Next I'm in a flurry of doctor's appointments and calls and research and telling people. I've gotten opinions from OhioHealth, The James and Cleveland Clinic and they all agree... surgery first... then we can figure out other treatments after they can do more testing on the tumor. So I'm pushing for surgery ASAP because of how fast I can feel this thing changing. The James had May 21st, which is waaaaay too long for my comfort, so I was still trying to get in earlier somewhere. OhioHealth didn't have anything earlier. Then I saw Dr Wu at Cleveland Clinic. His surgery scheduler could only offer May 20th so we left his office on Monday (4/28) convinced that we'd have to wait almost a month for surgery... which is still way too long and it hasn't even been a month since I found this and it feels to me like it's already doubled in size since 4/6. Then God worked again! Dr Wu called me the morning after we met (4/29) and said that since he couldn't get me in earlier, he referred me out to every other breast surgeon at Cleveland Clinic and someone had an opening on May 7th. So I said YES! I'LL TAKE IT! Everywhere I've worked with has been great but the team here at Cleveland Clinic, especially Dr Wu, truly heard my concerns about the speed of growth that I've been noticing and they've all worked so hard to get this done quickly and answer all the millions of questions that come out of my brain. So, Max and I are here for pre op testing today and all is going well... surgery tomorrow. Please follow here for updates after the procedure and if you'd send up some prayers or positive vibes or whatever is your thing, I would really appreciate it.
Special Notes
Dinners... things like beef, chicken or turkey with little to no seasoning, vegetables and fresh fruit will work for all of us. The boys also like chicken nuggets, fries, peperoni and cheese pizza. Gift cards or take out from Pats Pizza in WJ, Flyers, chick fil a, Texas roadhouse, chipotle, roosters. I think dinners for 4 starting this Friday would be good. Then also a grocery pickup once each werkend would be helpful.
