Supporting Marty & Dana Weeks

Suffern, NY

Story

When Dana and Marty met in 1999 in Prague, she knew their connection was special, but she had no idea that the love of her life would become her HERO. Last Spring of 2024, Dana found out that she needed a kidney transplant as a result of her kidney disease (PKD). Dana's husband and hero immediately offered to donate his kidney, but unfortunately they weren't an ideal match. Amazingly, a few short weeks ago, they were invited to join a 12-person DONOR CHAIN! Marty will still donate his kidney, but to someone else. And Dana is being gifted someone else's kidney. While having surgery on the same day is overwhelming, they will be in the best hands with the doctors and nurses at Columbia Presbyterian. ALL the loving support from EACH OF YOU and the hope of renewing SIX people's lives are helping us keep positive and optimistic about the future! They are very grateful to be part of this kidney donor chain. As both of them recover from surgery, they are also grateful to have ALL OF YOU to lean on. Friends of Dana and Marty are creating this website to help ORGANIZE all the support (much appreciated!). While they need help with meals (cooking or gift cards welcome) and rides, they also welcome virtual visits, texts and any other way you may want to check in with the Weeks family. Unfortunately, in-person visits are not allowed after the surgery, and any meal drop off needs to be contactless. Dana’s immune system will be significantly compromised during these first few months. Thank you in advance for supporting Dana and Marty through this RECOVERY! ❤️

Special Notes

Please no visitors early on. Dana will be extremely immune compromised.

Hi! We love you. We’d like to help with Gemma but need to understand more. Can we pick Gemma up and bring her to our home? Does she do ok in the car if we want to hike her and Dash at the reservoir? Heather

Jennifer Ehlen Hi Heather! This is Dana's friend Jenny. I asked Dana. She said thank you so much. They are good with Gemmy for now. She said to stay tuned. They might need help in a week or so. If they need help, either Dana or I will reach out with more info. 💕
