Jeff’s Heart Journey

Story

On November 20, 2025, Jeffrey went in for what was expected to be a routine heart procedure and test. Those tests uncovered thrombosis in his LVAD. He was admitted to the hospital for around the clock monitoring and evaluation. Ultimately it was determined any procedure to correct the thrombosis would be incredibly risky. Currently Jeff is awaiting a new heart via donor. This journey began nine years ago when Jeff learned he had CHF (Congestive Heart Failure). Faced with many difficult decisions, the heart team, Jeff, and I—his wife, Christina—decided that an LVAD would be his best option. An LVAD (Left Ventricular Assist Device) was placed in 2018 through open-heart surgery. This life-saving operation allowed Jeff to continue living life to the fullest, help others and create countless new memories with his family while we waited. The LVAD is a bridge to transplant, and that is where we are today. Since being admitted, Jeff’s status has moved from Status 4 to Status 3. Now he has been temporarily moved to status 2 which is considered critical. We have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support from his colleagues at ADP, as well as from family and friends. Balancing home life while spending as much time as possible with Jeff in the hospital has been challenging. So many are asking how they can help, and at first we were unsure how to respond. Then colleagues began sending meals, gift cards and groceries. We quickly realized these gestures help us tremendously in different ways. Having meals provided allows me to focus my time on Jeff without worrying about what to prepare after long days at the hospital. We are deeply grateful for meals, gift cards, groceries or whatever is given from the heart. Thank you for being the village we need during this time. Jeff is in great spirits. He is choosing to attack this adversity head on and with a smile on his face. I will continue to keep you all updated here. We love you from the bottom of our hearts. 💕 “And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.” —1 Corinthians 13:13
