Alexis' Surgery Support

Philadelphia, PA

W
Story

Hey friends, thanks for wandering onto my page! Finally I'll be undergoing FFS surgery beginning of June and looking for support with meals, financials, some tasks around the house and maybe a ride here and there. And hangs of course! Really can't stress how much I've been looking forward to this bit of GAC, I've been pretty scared to go through with it but every girl I've spoken to that's had it done says it's absolutely made them feel so much better. I'm stoked! My procedure is slated for Friday June the 5th and recovery time is expected to be around 3-4 weeks. My lovely partner Katja will be with me for the procedure and staying for that first weekend but looking for support Tuesday the 9th and Wednesday the 10th to potentially be available for providing pill support or arranging rides in the case of an emergency. I also have a post-op appointment that I'll need a lift to and from on Thursday the 11th. Ngl shits been kinda rough with this procedure, I originally had this scheduled in December before J3ffrsn yeeted my provider and dept. within a week before surgery. This week my sweet elderly cat Sherbert lost his vision and has required multiple vet visits ($$$$) to stabilize, with work also being unhappy with my leave. All's to say I'm entering surgery week feeling incredibly burnt & stressed. Support is soo appreciated, whatever it may be or look like <3 Thanks so much for reading and being, I'm so excited to be entering this important part of my journey with your friendship and care xoxo alexis ------------------- Care Notes! Foods: For the first week I'll mostly be eating liquid or soft foods, think soups, mashed potatoes, eggs, etc. Open to some chicken/seafood-involved broths (for PROTEIN) but generally vegetarian these days. No preference if you sign up for meals and wanna make or order food for me. I'm blessed with some talented chefy friends but if you 're not feeling up to cooking or aren't in town happy with delivery :). I'll list some local options that I enjoy below: -Vietnam Cafe & Vientane Cafe for soups and just about anything else too -Fu-wah - Tofu Banh Mi's and assorted snacks, chrysanthamum tea<3 -Chili Szechuan - Spicy or Braised Tofus -Dahlak -Pizza Plus West -Don Barrigas -Uyghur Noodle King Care & Recovery: First week might need some support with pills and wound care, but after will mostly be wearing support when not out and about. I've heard from some girls that they felt totally fine the first week, to it being very painful so will definitely see how I'm feeling after the procedure. I'll probs be staying in for a few weeks before swelling subsides as well. House tasks: Might need some assistance with dishes and taking out the trash. I have a handful of outdoor plants that will need watering too. Totally will ask if that's something you'd be able to help with. Cat: Darling Sherbert is now blind and taking blood pressure medication. We're still waiting on results and have a follow up the day before my procedure but might be requiring additional rides to the vet if/when he needs it. I might need some help feeding & pilling him the first week so if you feel up to being a Sherbert Scout let me know! At this point I'm unsure if he'll be stabilizing after this new medication or moving into palliative care so will update if anything changes :/ Social: Would love messages, either text or snail mail while I'm recovering :). Open to a game night (video or table top), lunchtime tea, zoom chat, movie marathons or a craft or task mirroring session. Love me some flowers too <3! I have a larger porch now that we can chill and watch cars and once my energy returns would love to take a walk to the park together <<<3333333
