Cyndee and Larry first bought their house in Taos 23 years ago. I remember driving up from Santa Fe after their wedding and arriving at the empty house where we planned to stay in sleeping bags next to the fire. A little indoor camping experience. Since then, they have moved to Taos full time, after I graduated in 2010, and have been part of this community ever since! As you know, Mom has been diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. Yes, big shock, but we are all so proud of her fight, and the doctors say they caught it early!!! Which is amazing news. She will heal and get healthy again from this latest surgery and soon will start treatment again to really zap any of those bad cells. But for now, her help please is all based on gaining her strength back and healing from surgery. She has been Larry's primary caregiver for a decade now as he is battling Alzheimer's. His disease seems to be progressing fast, and he needs Cyndee to help ground him, so her being home with Larry post-surgery and through treatment is necessary but hard. I know they have built such a wonderful community in Taos, and we are all so grateful for your support during this time. TIMELINE: 10/16 - release from CSV 4-8 weeks - recover before starting chemo again 8x more rounds of chemo at CSV once she is cleared by her Doctors. (Treatments are every other week, with the second week always being the hardest)
HOW TO HELP: 1. Meals -> Meals are always welcome! Something easy enough to reheat. TO NOTE: Mom doesn't like fish, spice, or onions. Keep them tasty but simple! She also needs a lot of protein-rich foods, so keep that in mind. 2. Shopping -> Weekly/Bi-Weekly grocery shopping to pick up any items needed around the house 3. Larry Support -> Getting Larry out of the house is ideal, every now and then, he loves a lunch outing and as you know, has lots of stories to tell! 4. Nala Walks -> For now, my mom probably won't be taking Nala on a walk for a while (4 weeks). But the lil girl needs her exercise. If you are willing and able, it would be such amazing support. CALL OUTS: Mom's immune system is already very shocked from chemo and surgery; please make sure to only come over when you are NOT sick. And wash your hands before assisting her in any way.
