Support After Trauma

W
Story

I never imagined that one of the hardest experiences of my life would push me toward finally pursuing something I truly love. While working, I experienced a sexual assault in the workplace. After speaking up about what happened, I became afraid to return to work and made it clear that I did not feel comfortable or safe returning until something was done about the situation. Unfortunately, I felt like my concerns were not taken seriously, and ultimately, instead of receiving the support and protection I needed, I was wrongfully terminated after speaking up. That experience changed the way I look at working for someone else. It made me realize that I don't want to spend my life depending on someone else to provide me with a safe environment or determine my future. As painful as this experience has been, it also motivated me to take a chance on myself. I have always had a genuine love for cooking. Cooking is something that brings me happiness, and I love being able to create food that makes other people happy. I've already had the opportunity to cook for others, and the feedback I've received has shown me that people genuinely enjoy my food. What started as something I simply loved doing is becoming something I believe I can build a future around. So, I'm officially taking a bet on myself. My goal is to raise $1,500 to help me get started with my food business. This money will help me with the basic costs of getting my operation up and running properly, including ingredients, supplies, kitchen costs, packaging, and other startup expenses. I'm not asking for someone to build my dream for me. I'm asking for a little help getting the first step off the ground. Losing my job under these circumstances was not how I planned to start this chapter of my life, but I don't want this experience to be the end of my story. I want to turn it into motivation. I want to take the passion I've always had for cooking and turn it into something that belongs to me. If you are able to donate, even $5 or $10 would mean so much to me. If you aren't able to donate, simply sharing my GoFundMe could help me reach someone who can. Thank you for believing in me, supporting me, and helping me take this leap of faith. ❤️ I'm choosing to bet on myself—and I'm ready to see where this passion can take me.
