Our vivacious Kelly, mother of 4 children, wife to Luke and Badass Iraqi War Veteran has cancer. The timeline of her story is as follows: • Late April Kelly developed some right sided neck and shoulder pain and thought it was a neck strain • May 5th, she developed abdominal pain and imaging showed a large mass on her liver • May 6th an MRI confirmed a large liver mass and she had some abnormal bloodwork (labs that were concerning for cancer) • May 8th, she had tissue biopsy (tissue from her liver) to test if she had cancer • May 14th the tissue (pathology) confirmed carcinoma (cancer) but additional imaging did not show any primary lesion (main source of cancer) • May 21st, she had a PET scan (a scan to look for cancer spread) and was hospitalized for ongoing abdominal pain • The PET scan showed cancer spread in her pancreas, neck, chest, abdomen and possible early spread into her bones • She is not a candidate for surgery because of the widespread cancer and the cancer is incurable-but we are praying for a miracle • She is awaiting a 2nd opinion from Mayo Clinic • May 23rd, she started chemotherapy • Now is the time for us to support Kelly in her fight with cancer, as she has so valiantly fought to protect our freedom!
