If you know LaNeese, you know she has spent years making people laugh, teaching, encouraging, and pouring herself into the students and people around her. Now, she's the one who needs a little extra love and support from her people. Earlier this year, LaNeese was diagnosed with stage 4 esophageal cancer and is currently fighting hard through chemotherapy and radiation. After many years of working in education, she recently had to apply for retirement earlier than she planned. Treatment has left LaNeese exhausted, sick, and weak, and right now some of the little everyday things we usually take for granted can be difficult. Cooking, cleaning, and taking care of herself have become real challenges. Our goal is simple - let's make sure LaNeese has food. We are hoping to provide meals for the next few months - whether that means cooking something and dropping it off, having a meal delivered, sending a restaurant gift card, or sending DoorDash/UberEats. Whatever is easiest for you is perfect. The important thing is that LaNeese has something she can simply heat up and eat without having to cook or open difficult containers. Please also remember to keep LaNeese in your prayers as she continues treatment. We believe God is with her in this fight, and we want her to feel surrounded by love, support, and prayer every step of the way. Thank you for loving LaNeese and helping us take care of our friend. Side note: Our focus here is meals, but if you would rather help with expenses, LaNeese also has a GoFundMe to help cover bills while she is unable to work that is linked to this page.
A few food notes: LaNeese is not picky! Because of the tumor in her throat and the effects of the treatment, soft foods are easier for her right now. Great options: Brothy soups Pastas with sauce Shredded or ground chicken Ground beef Casseroles and other soft meals that are easy to reheat Please avoid: Tomato-based foods/sauces Very acidic foods Bread Seafood She is especially weak right now, so prepared meals are very helpful. If cooking isn't your thing, that's completely fine! Having a meal delivered, sending DoorDash, or ordering a meal for her is just as helpful. The goal is to make sure LaNeese has something nourishing that she can easily heat up and eat.
