Our beloved colleague and friend Gena was unexpectedly diagnosed with metastatic cancer this year. Gena is a palliative care nurse practitioner who spends her days caring for patients with cancer and other serious illnesses, and she is a giant-hearted and playful friend. She continues to be a vibrant light and a dedicated advocate for others as she undergoes treatment. Gena is the primary earner in her family. She is still working as much as she can, coordinating to sell her house and move to an easier living situation, and planning for a time when her function begins to decline. She needs financial support to take time off when her body needs it and to enjoy her good days as much as possible. Her most important goal is to make beautiful memories with her family in the time she has.
