Story
After being diagnosed with colon cancer, Shane is undergoing surgery to remove part of his colon. While he focuses on healing and his doctors guide the next steps, we’d love to help ease the load for him and his family during this important time of rest and recovery. We’re organizing this Meal Train for Shane because he’s truly one of the best—someone everyone is lucky to know. He’s always the first to show up for others, and now it’s our turn to show up for him. Whether it’s a home-cooked meal, a thoughtful delivery, or a simple gift card, every bit of support gives them one less thing to think about—and reminds them just how loved they are.
Special Notes
Shane is following a Mediterranean-style diet during recovery. Yes: grilled chicken, turkey, fish, veggies, fruit, whole grains, hummus, beans, olive oil, avocado, nuts, light dairy (like Greek yogurt or feta). No: red meat, fried or greasy food, heavy cream sauces, processed meats, white bread, sugary desserts or drinks. Don’t feel like cooking? That’s totally okay—gift cards are a great way to help! Some days a meal, some days a grocery run—everything is truly appreciated. There are 2 adults and 4 kiddos—ages 17, 16, 8, and 6. To keep things fun (and avoid a full-on Mediterranean food overdose!), the rest of the family would love a mix of options. Some favorites include Mexican, Italian, BBQ, pizza, and chicken nuggets/tenders with fries. Restaurants near Prairie Center (Brighton) or close to their home in Commerce City work great. Gift cards, freezer-friendly meals, or even a light breakfast/snack box are great in between! Everything is appreciated. The family is so thankful for the love and support. As Shane focuses on healing, they may be resting or unavailable when you stop by. To keep things easy, there will be a cooler outside the front door for meal drop-offs—no need to knock or wait. Your kindness means the world. And just one small request to help make things even easier on them: if you’re bringing a homemade meal, please consider using disposable or one-time-use containers. That way, they won’t have to keep track of returning dishes. Thank you so much for understanding and for showing up in such a thoughtful way.
