Sheila and Tom Bostic

Palm Harbor, FL

W
Story

We all love Sheila’s Zumba classes and appreciate her dedication to keeping us fit while having fun. We rely on her! Now Sheila’s going through a tough time with her husband (Tom), so let’s encourage her to rely on us. After more than three months of residing in the hospital and/or skilled rehab, Tom has returned home, but unfortunately that’s not the end of the story. Things are far from how they used to be. This new chapter has come with challenges: limited mobility requiring a wheelchair, ongoing health issues, multiple medicines to manage, and more. After frustrating delays, a private home-health company is coming in twice a week. Now Sheila’s working on arranging in-home PT, OT, wound care, and nursing. To ease her load, let’s see what tasks we can do for Sheila. Just a little Sheila trivia . . . back in the day, a George Washington University football player named Tom had his eye on his sister’s friend named Sheila, a high schooler in his hometown of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. His wooing worked, and they married when Sheila was 18. They settled in Palm Harbor in 1978 where Tom was the head football coach at Clearwater High for 30 years. Together, they have a daughter, Jenna (anybody know her?!). In June, they’ll be married 60 years!

Special Notes

UPDATE: THE CARE CALENDAR BELOW IS ON HOLD, AS THEY ARE NOT AT HOME NOW. THIS WILL LIKELY RESUME WHEN THEIR SITUATION CHANGES. Here are some meaningful ways we can help: 1. Sign up for a day on the calendar—prepare or purchase the meal of your choice. 2. Purchase a prepaid debit card (prepaid Visa card) to be used toward Pelican Meals (details below). This can be done here on the site or by picking one up at local spots like Publix or CVS. 3. Make something sweet whenever you want—no signup needed. (You can even give it to her in the parking lot after class instead of delivering to the house.) 4. Although prepaid debit/Visa card is preferred, if you'd rather send a food delivery card, please use Uber Eats. 5. Send a note of support to Sheila, either through this website, email, text, or snail mail. * [email protected] * ‭(727) 643-0687‬ * 2008 Winding Oaks Drive, Palm Harbor FL 34683 Food preferences: They both like salads, steak, and pizza (although they’re pizza-d out right now). Tom loves fish and seafood (salmon, blackened mahi), and Jenna wants him to amp up his protein. Meanwhile, Sheila loves burgers, chicken, fried shrimp (she says she’s “allergic” to fish, but truly she just doesn’t care for it). Some healthy homecooked meals would be awesome, and if you’re not jazzed about cooking, pick something up. They just discovered Pelican Meals (a meal prep service that delivers) and will have a few meals delivered on Sundays, which gives them fresh options through mid-week. Unfortunately, Pelican Meals does not offer gift cards or a way for us to pre-pay the account. Instead, here’s a workaround: buy a pre-paid debit card, and slide the card to her after class or bring it to the house—your choice. Here are some of their local favorites: Eddie’s Bar & Grill • Tom: Black & Blue Salad from Eddie’s (medium) • Tom: Eddie’s chocolate cake • Sheila: cheeseburger, lettuce, tomato mayo (medium) Clear Sky • Tom: Shrimp & Grits • Sheila: Pulled pork sandwich Sonny’s • Tom: Sonny’s pork ribs (1/2 slab), St. Louis dry rubbed (not baby back) • Sheila: The Big Deal (pulled pork on Texas toast, cole slaw, fries) Chinese Food (no particular spot) • Tom: Beef Lo-Mein • Sheila: Chicken with Broccoli Chick-Fil-A • Tom: Cobb salad or salad with chicken • Sheila: chocolate milk shake, original chicken sandwich (two mayos) & fries McDonald’s (every now and then) • Tom: Quarter Pounder w/cheese pickle, onion, mustard, ketchup • Sheila: Quarter Pounder w/cheese with lettuce, tomato, mayo with LARGE fries Publix • Tom: The Ultimate Sub on white; lettuce, tomato, onion, mayo • Sheila: Italian Sub on white, with tomatoes, lettuce, light banana peppers, extra oil & vinegar on the side • Sheila: Publix chocolate cake: $4/slice
