After five years of 12‑hour trips for a rare cancer, then appx with in the last year becoming metastatic stage four, the bills finally caught up. We’ve lost our home. We’re asking for help with rent and a security deposit so she can keep fighting—and we can all breathe again. Even with stage four cancer, after a rare cancer diagnosis five years ago, our daughter continues to fight—and we will too. But the financial toxicity of cancer has caught up with us, and we’ve lost our home. For five years, we’ve traveled more than 12 hours every three months to get her the specialized care she needs. Last year, her cancer became metastatic (stage four). Now she receives weekly treatments close to home in the Upper Midwest, but every month and a half we still travel about 12 hours away for specialist appointments. These trips have been crucial to support her life and care, but the costs have added up over time and we have found ourselves in the situation we are in today unfortunately. This July, we lost our home to foreclosure. Local and state support programs are currently at capacity, and we’ve reached out to every state, regional, and local agency we can find, as well as multiple nonprofits. We are still on waiting lists, which are very long. As her next stage in this journey begins, we find ourselves homeless and in need of help with a security deposit and up to six months of rent. Any support would help us get back on our feet, stabilize our housing, and focus on her care. It would let us finally feel grounded again, be able to breathe a bit, and give her the most fulfilling life possible during this time. We are keeping names and our exact location private to protect our family’s safety and dignity, but we are deeply grateful for any help, prayers, or shares. Even small contributions bring us closer to having a safe, stable place to call home while our daughter continues treatment. --- How the money will be used and paid to the landlord Our goal is to raise enough for a security deposit and up to six months of rent so we can stabilize our housing while our daughter continues treatment for metastatic cancer. Funds will be used in this order: • Security deposit for a rental in the Upper Midwest • First month’s rent, then month by month for up to six months (around $1,400/month) • Any remaining funds will help with utilities and travel for specialist appointments (gas, lodging when needed). Donations will be withdrawn to our bank account. We will then pay the landlord directly (by check or online transfer) for the deposit and each month’s rent. In updates, we’ll share when the deposit is paid and which months of rent are covered, so you can see exactly how your help is being used. --- Other ways to help (if cash isn’t possible) We know not everyone can give cash, and even small amounts make a real difference.
