Carla and Nate

W
Story

A note from Carla the week before her surgery... I did not think this would all happen so fast but here we are…I went through the testing to be a living liver donor at Duke in January. Last Wednesday I got the call I was approved for left lateral lobe donation. Thursday I got the call there was a pediatric recipient waiting on the list that I was a perfect match to… Selfishly, I had tickets to the big Canes outdoor game that I was so excited for, Dante just had surgery that requires a lot of attention, I was just over 1/2 through my goal of finishing 75 Hard, Nate was not on board at all and I didn’t want to be a burden to my work team during tax time. But life is never convenient. There is not a perfect time to halt your schedule. I have a great life and I have an opportunity to make someone else’s life better. So, I’m in. Early Friday I’ll go to Duke, have 40% of my liver removed, spend about a week there and then come home to recover. I ask for your prayers for the recipient, that their little body would accept my liver and they can grow up and live a normal life. I’ll keep you updated ❤️ PS - today we learned it is a 5-month old baby ❤️

Special Notes

Carla isn't quite ready for visitors just yet, but we have had a lot of people reach out asking if they can provide food or stop in to visit (She has an amazing support system). If you would like to support her in some way - gift cards, door dash, uber eats, any food delivery system that she and Nate can control on a day-to-day basis would be the best way at this time. There are links below for quick and easy options to send them a gift card. Feel free to use those or go directly through specific restaurant websites. For any questions, feel free to reach out to me via text or phone - Amanda Teague at 828-446-0073. Thank you for supporting Carla and Nate through this incredible journey!
