I started a meal train for my mother, Karen, because she is about to do something truly extraordinary—she’s donating her kidney to my brother, Matt. It’s an act of courage, love, and selflessness that most of us can barely put into words. While she’s focused on healing and recovering from surgery, I wanted to make sure she’s surrounded by support and comfort in every way possible. Taking the stress of cooking off her plate felt like a small but meaningful way to honor what she’s doing for our family. This meal train is also a way for friends and loved ones to be part of her journey. Not everyone can be in the operating room with her, but they can show up with nourishment, kindness, and encouragement during her recovery. It creates a circle of care around my mom as she gives my brother a second chance at life. Organ donation is a beautiful, life-changing gift, and supporting Karen through this time is the least we can do to remind her that she’s not doing any of it alone.
She would appreciate healthy meals, low sodium with a focus on cooked fresh vegetables. Thank you 🙏
