4 years ago, The Lamonds moved into our town and quickly after, into our hearts. Always giving their love, attention and support wherever it’s needed. As their friends, family, and community; we need to pull together and fill their cups when every family needs it most, a time when cups are rapidly emptied. The best gift any of us can give those we love is our time and support. Let’s be hands on and proactive while they welcome their beautiful new baby. They will need help with chores around the home and farm. These will look like your everyday home care: Dishes, sweeping, mopping, dusting, laundry, grocery shopping, meal prep, cooking dinners and deep cleaning and sanitizing. And things around their farm: Winterizing plants, winterizing pathways for safety, cleaning up after the animals, feeding and watering the animals and feed store runs. The more friends and family that can help, the less each individual needs to do and the longer we can keep a smooth engine running. Let’s try and doing a little bit each so that no one feels burn out. If you are someone who likes cleaning other people’s houses more than your own, then maybe you could pick a day or two a week and help sanitize and organize. If you are someone who makes enough food for an army and always has to toss leftovers, maybe you can make freezer meals and drop off once or twice a week. If you are someone who hangouts with the animals more than the people at every gathering, maybe you could come feed the animals and give some extra attention to them. If you are a big kid at heart, maybe you could play the part of big brother or sister to the boys once a week by throwing a ball around, playing some games or doing some art or science projects. If you are someone with a green thumb, maybe you could come help prepare their plants for winter and help care for the indoor plants that often get overlooked the most in any household. We all know how much everyone loves holding babies, but if we can refrain from trying to takeover the baby part and allow this family to enjoy their own baby while they can before everyone has to return to work, that will be what is truly best for all involved, especially the baby. Allow Amanda to ask, if she needs a break, a rest or a shower. And keep up on washing your hands whether or not you get to hold the baby. We can’t wait to see what the community and all those who love the Lamonds can pull together. Thank you!
