Story

Life has a way of changing in ways you never expect. A little over a year ago, my daughter and I found ourselves facing something that changed our lives forever—my cancer diagnosis. I never imagined that cancer would become such a huge part of our story, or that even after treatment, the battle would continue in ways I never expected. I made it through cancer, but being told you are cancer-free doesn’t mean everything suddenly goes back to normal. There have been continued medical issues, appointments, procedures, and now upcoming surgeries that are making it difficult, and at times impossible, for me to work and provide the way I always have. As a mother, one of the hardest parts of this isn’t just dealing with my own health. It’s worrying about my daughter and making sure she has everything she needs. I want to be able to give her stability, security, and the childhood she deserves, instead of having to constantly worry about bills, household expenses, and how we’re going to make it through the next month. Financially, things have become extremely difficult. The time away from work, combined with ongoing everyday expenses and the uncertainty of upcoming surgeries and recovery, has put us in a position I never thought we’d be in. I’ve always tried to handle things on my own. Asking for help is not something that comes easily to me or something I ever want to do. But sometimes life puts you in a place where you have to put your pride to the side to say, “We need a little help getting through this.” This isn’t just about money. It’s about giving my daughter and me a little breathing room while I continue focusing on getting through these medical challenges and rebuilding our lives. Sometimes options run out and you find yourself in survival mode trying to survive, it’s almost like being stranded on an island with limited resources. You become trapped and feel helpless. We’ve already made it through one of the hardest chapters of our lives. We’re just asking for a little help getting through what comes next. Thank you for standing beside us. 🩷
