Support for the Austin Family

Allison Park, PA

Story

Wolfepack, our HR Assistant and friend Taylor Najanick, needs your support. Taylor's sister Erica, was diagnosed and has been battling stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Erica is 37 years old, a local nurse, a wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. Erica and her husband Jay have two beautiful daughters, Rylee, now 11 and Zoey, 5. In short, Erica's journey began December of 2022 after a simple procedure removing her gallbladder after having pancreatitis. To the doctors dismay, they found something while repairing the stent placed during the procedure and a biopsy resulted in the discovery of pancreatic adenocarcinoma. At first, this was stage 1 and doctors stated that treatment was the way to go. Erica has been through several rounds of chemotherapy and radiation. Following months of treatment, she had the whipple procedure removing the head of her pancreas and part of the bile duct. After healing, months of treatment and surgery, Erica's cancer unfortunately metastasized to the liver. Erica was placed back into treatment however, this was not stopping her. Erica and the family traveled to Sloan Kettering, John Hopkins, Cleveland clinic, consulting with several doctors, gathering second and third opinions. The present masses shrunk slightly, but did not go away. In June of this year, Erica had a liver resection, removing two lobes of her liver. Doctors believed they had removed all of the known masses. Since her surgery, Erica has experienced much pain and has lost a significant amount of weight. More recently, Erica was hospitalized due to a blockage in her liver/bile duct stent and became extremely jaundice. During her hospital stay, she received a scan. The scan showed that the cancer had spread further to the bile duct and in other areas.. An ERCP procedure was performed to remove the blockage and allow bile to freely flow through the liver into the bile duct and into the intestine. During the procedure, doctors noted and biopsied an area in the bile duct, unfortunately, more metastases of pancreatic cells. A plan is in the works however, the future is uncertain. Taylor, has supported and been beside her sister, every step of the way. Erica has the fight for her life ahead of her and needs your help first and foremost with prayer. Please pray for Erica to have the strength to keep fighting. She is a warrior and a testament of true strength and resilience.
