It all started innocently enough. Amber woke up one morning and realized something was… not quite right. Her hip was hurting. Not “I slept funny” hurting. Not “I need some Advil” hurting. This was “I may have made some questionable life choices” hurting. Naturally, she tried to figure out what could have caused it. She hadn’t fallen. She hadn’t been in an accident. She hadn’t started CrossFit. And, according to Amber, she certainly hadn’t done anything that would require an orthopedic surgeon. But after a little investigation, we started noticing some suspicious details. There had apparently been some unusual physical activity. There may have been some awkward positioning. There was definitely some repetitive motion. And someone may have said, “Maybe we should stop before somebody gets hurt.” But Amber, being the dedicated overachiever she is, apparently decided that stopping was not an option. Fast-forward to today, and she’s scheduled for hip surgery. The doctors call it an injury. We call it an unfortunate consequence of having too much enthusiasm and not enough orthopedic awareness. So while we wish Amber a speedy recovery, we hope she remembers one very important lesson
