Combat Veteran And Caregiver In Crisis

W
Story

Patrick and I are facing a situation that we simply cannot overcome on our own. Patrick is a combat Marine and a 100% service-connected disabled veteran. I am his live-in caregiver, and I dedicate my days to taking care of him, helping with his daily needs, preparing meals, managing the household, and being there when he needs supervision and support. I love Patrick and I am committed to making sure he is cared for and safe. I have been providing this care while we wait for the VA to decide my caregiver appeal. My caregiver benefits were denied, so until that appeal is resolved, Patrick has been paying me out of his own pocket for the care I provide. This has put an enormous financial burden on both of us. His income is limited, and the money that should be going toward our mortgage, utilities, food, and other necessities has instead had to help cover the caregiving support he depends on. To make matters worse, we are now at serious risk of losing our home because of what we believe was a mortgage scam and problems that occurred with our mortgage servicing. We have been fighting to keep our home and trying to get the situation corrected, but the legal and financial stress has become overwhelming. Losing our home would be devastating, especially because this is the place where Patrick receives the care and support he needs. I am humbly asking for help—not for anything extravagant, but simply to keep a roof over our heads and get us through this crisis while we continue fighting for the VA caregiver benefits and working to resolve the mortgage situation. Donations will help with our mortgage, utilities, food, household necessities, and the basic expenses required to keep our home and continue caring for Patrick
