Bre McCray was admitted this past weekend to Midtown after experiencing severe neck and head pain for several days. Bre usually tolerates pain well, but this time, something was clearly wrong. After being brushed off by an ER doctor and sent home with a shot of Toradol, Bre was told there “wasn’t much that could be done since she's breastfeeding” and to just stretch and see the chiropractor. Despite two visits to the chiropractor, the pain only got worse. It became the worst pain Bre had ever experienced, making it impossible to care for her children, drive, eat, or sleep. Dizziness, nausea, and vomiting quickly followed, and her quality of life declined rapidly. Thankfully, friends at her doctor’s office listened and urged her to go to Midtown for a full workup. That’s when Doctors discovered a dissection of the left vertebral artery. After many medications, sedations, and trials, Bre was discharged and finally able to come home Tuesday, May 12th! She will have a repeat CTA in 3 months to make the sure dissection is healing, while taking blood thinners everyday. Bre had only recently returned to work, so no time off will be paid. Bill also transitioned jobs last month and isn’t eligible for paid time off. There are still many unknowns as she continues treatment and awaits answers. She is on a lot of new medications, referred to several different specialists, has lots of DR appts, and trying to find care for the girls and herself as she cannot drive right now all while Bill will be returning to work. Please pray for Bre as she heals, and for her family as they navigate whatever comes their way—physically, mentally, and financially. Your words of encouragement, offers to help, and prayers have already meant so much. We have a great village in this community, and every bit of support helps right now. God is good!!
