Todd, Chelsea, Delilah & Daisy welcomed Miss Dahlia "Dolly" Marguerite Douglas to their family on 10.07.25. Let's show the Douglas Family some love by providing them with meals as they maneuver this new life with 3 girls and moving into their new home. Read their beautifully written story by Chelsea below. It will bless you as we attempt to bless them. Thanks for all your support and love! Dahlia Marguerite Douglas 10•7•25 and a little backstory.... We’ve always been good at the pivot, before we ever found each other, and even more so once we did. There’s a shared spirit in us that loves the unexpected and knows how to let go of what isn’t meant for us. “Open grip, babe,” we often remind each other. Two months into marriage, we nearly moved across the world to a remote atoll in the South Pacific. My husband was ready for the new career move, I was ready for the adventure with Delilah and my new husband. We had the luggage zipped when life surprised us, a second baby was on her way, and with her, the island door quietly closed. We stayed. We trusted the One who writes stories beyond my timeline and we grew our family when our Daisy girl was born. We pivoted again. We bought land with plans to build our dream house. Water lines went in, we had build plans and surveys. And I felt no peace. I dreaded calls with our builder. I realized I didn’t want new, I wanted something old and storied so we sold that land and bought a 50 acre farm with a farmhouse that has seen the ordinary beauty of life since 1946. I knew this prompting on my heart to pivot was because something better was being prepared. As I walked the empty arched halls of our “new old” house all I could think about was tiny feet dancing up the hallways, knowing another baby was on its way. So here we are again! It’s been a whirlwind last few weeks. We sold our house and are moving into the farmhouse of our dreams and just in time because… The Lord has rewritten our plans in the most heartbreaking and redeeming way, again. In a hospital room filled with both ache and joy, without any bureaucracy, our daughters’ brave mama brought our third baby into the world. Dahlia Marguerite, our Dolly girl. Another miracle, another reminder that His ways are higher than ours. Three girls! It’s called the sailor’s curse, a boat captain with all daughters. But I think it’s his lot in life to be surrounded by girls adoring their daddy. And one more note on my servant leader of a husband: while I’ve been at the hospital until our girl can come home next week, he has single handedly moved us, taken care of the older girls, handled home closings and repairs, handled doctors appointments and legal paperwork, funded a private adoption and a move in the same week as the sole provider, taken time to come see his newest girl and take care of me. He’s Superman. He’s my best yes. This life we’re building with my his quiet sacrifices and my joy in the everyday tending keeps getting sweeter with each pivot. Again and again, the Spirit nudges, we follow, and He proves Himself faithful. It’s not always easy, the last week has been very emotional as we experienced for a third time the bitter sweetness of adoption. But He is faithful no less. So here we are, arms full of our beautiful girls, in a home on this land where another generation will learn what it means to walk in goodness and grace. The Lord has dealt bountifully with me.
