Help Jelly Recover 2026

Durham, NC

Story

Jelly and Ollie are facing the difficult task of recovery after a planned ACL surgery at the end of January 2025. In December, Jelly’s epic soccer moves turned into a very painful injury when she fell while playing with a rec league. Now, Jelly is scheduled for ACL surgery with a 6 week “stay in bed and try not to crazy” phase and a year-long recovery phase. In the immediate post-surgery period, Jelly will be unable to work and unable to take her beloved dog, Ollie, for his walks. Jelly would love some community support in the following; - Neighbors who can physically take Ollie for walks - Neighbors who can stop by for sanity checks and hangouts! - Funds or gift cards for Ollie to go to The Pet Wagon doggie day care - Funds for a hired dog walker - Funds or gift cards for Hungry Root, a meal delivery service. Note* due to dietary restrictions, this is the easiest option, but Jelly is also open to high-fiber, mostly-vegetarian (chicken ok) meals if someone local would like to provide - Activities and crafts that can be done on the couch or in bed. Jelly won’t be able to bend her leg for the first six weeks. She will have a Nintendo Switch, so borrowing/purchasing any games (such as Animal Crossing) would be awesome. - Funds to support essential medical equipment not covered by her sub-par insurance, including a $900 leg brace. As a nurse, Jelly is used to caring for others. Let’s show her that we can care for her!
