Meals for Stephanie

Story

My mom is going to be recovering from major open-heart surgery for Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) after December 15th. She should be home by the 20th but in the following weeks I’d like to request prayers and some extra help from friends and community members with meals. HCM is a condition where the heart muscle becomes abnormally thick, making it difficult for the heart to pump blood properly. She will undergo an extensive open-heart procedure to remove excess heart muscle and improve blood flow. This is a very invasive surgery, and her recovery will be slow, delicate, and several weeks long. She will be coming home with significant soreness, limited mobility, strict lifting and movement restrictions, and a lot of fatigue as her body heals. Even simple daily tasks—like cooking, standing for long periods, or preparing meals—will be extremely difficult during the first part of her recovery. This Meal Train is to help alleviate stress so she can focus fully on healing. Meals, snacks, or even simple grocery items make a huge difference. Things like fresh fruit, easy-to-heat meals, breakfast items, or healthy snacks are incredibly helpful. *must be low sodium* If you feel comfortable, short visits are also welcome. Having familiar faces stop by (even briefly) helps lift her spirits and break up long days of rest. Just a few minutes of company can truly brighten her day. We are deeply grateful for any support — meals, snacks, prayers, or a quick “thinking of you” message. Thank you so much for loving her through this healing journey.♥️

Special Notes

Meals must be low sodium. Sodium makes the heart want to work extra hard, we don’t want that right now.
