Just a few weeks after Garrett and Emily were married, their lives took an unexpected turn. During a routine physical, Garrett’s doctor noticed something concerning and recommended further testing. What they hoped would be a minor issue became a diagnosis no one expected: testicular cancer. Garrett underwent an orchiectomy in early July, and additional testing confirmed that the cancer had spread to a nearby lymph node. While this has been an overwhelming season for Garrett and Emily, they are incredibly grateful for the exceptional medical team caring for him. Although the road ahead won’t be easy, they’re holding tightly to the excellent prognosis associated with this type of cancer. This month, Garrett will begin three cycles of chemotherapy. The weeks ahead will include frequent treatments, appointments, and recovery, but the goal is clear: to cure his cancer. Throughout it all, he has remained determined, hopeful, and focused on doing whatever it takes to get healthy. Anyone who knows Garrett knows he is hardworking, kind, and always willing to help others. Whether he’s managing construction projects, playing hockey, golfing, or spending time with family and friends, he brings joy and encouragement to those around him. Many friends and family have asked how they can help during this time. This page was created to support and provide updates so Garrett and Emily can focus on what matters most: his treatment and recovery. Every prayer, encouraging message, meal, and act of kindness means more than words can express. Thank you for surrounding Garrett and Emily with so much love as they walk through this season. While meals are incredibly appreciated, Garrett would especially appreciate Uber Eats and/or DoorDash gift cards during his chemotherapy treatment. Chemo can make his appetite and food preferences change from day to day, so having the flexibility to order whatever sounds good in the moment would be a huge help.
