In June 2025, Shannon was diagnosed with Squamous Cell Carcinoma after discovering a large mass in his throat. He underwent an emergency tracheostomy and began his uphill battle to get well enough to begin cancer treatments. Over the course of his healing, a medical professional accidentally removed his trach line and Shannon went into cardiac arrest for 12 minutes. While he was able to be revived, he sustained vast brain damage from the incident. Keeping his health and his aforementioned wishes in mind, his family made the heartbreaking decision to focus on comfort care only. Shannon passed away in hospice care, surrounded by family on July 19, 2025. Shannon's Wife, Mary, and his 19 year old son Nathan, will now begin to navigate their new lives without their husband and father.
