As many of you know, Heather is a hairstylist at Uplift Haus in Wayne. Over the years, she has been more than just a stylist—she has been a source of light, laughter, and strength for so many of us. At Uplift Haus, we believe our mission goes beyond cutting and coloring hair. We are here to uplift one another—to celebrate your highest moments like weddings and milestones, but also to hold space during the lowest valleys life can bring. The power of a haircut, a conversation, or a shared moment of connection is real, and Heather has given that gift to so many. On Wednesday, September 3rd at 5:25 p.m., Heather received the call that no parent ever wants to hear. Her 13-year-old son had been found unconscious and unresponsive. Without hesitation, she demanded that 911 be called, and emergency responders rushed to his aid. He was taken to Bryn Mawr ER, where the medical team acted with incredible speed. After stabilizing him, doctors made the difficult decision to place him in a medically induced coma before transferring him to CHOP. By the true grace of God, and with the remarkable care of the medical team, Heather’s son’s body began the slow process of healing—though the cause of this terrifying event remains unknown. Friends who were with him at the time say they have no answers, leaving Heather, her family, and all of us who love them with only time, faith, and prayers to cling to. At around 4:30 a.m. on Thursday, her son began to regain consciousness—a miracle and a testament to both divine grace and the skill of his medical team. While this is an answered prayer, it is also just the beginning of a long road to recovery. Now, in this season of hardship, it is our turn as a community to uplift Heather and her family. Mental health struggles are something too many in our community know firsthand, and the journey to healing is never short or easy. We hope no one ever has to walk this road, but for those who do, it makes all the difference to know you are not alone. All funds raised will go directly toward medical expenses and the long road of healing ahead. Should there be any remaining funds, they will be donated to a nonprofit that supports families in our community facing these same unimaginable challenges. Together, let’s surround Heather and her family with love, prayer, and support—so they never have to carry this burden alone.
