Support a down on her luck college student

Story

I’m a student currently facing a serious financial and housing crisis, and I’m asking for help to get back on my feet. Last semester, I wasn’t able to fully cover my tuition, and as a result I may not be able to continue school. I attend school out of state, and I’m not from the area I’m currently in. When my finances fell apart, I didn’t have a safe place to go. For the past several days, I’ve been sleeping in my car just to stay safe. A large part of why I’m in this position is because I lent a significant amount of money to someone I trusted, money I had been saving for necessities. After a disagreement, they refused to pay me back, and that loss wiped out what little financial stability I had. I did have a job, but between ongoing car problems and the demands of a particularly difficult class required for my degree, I wasn’t able to commit full-time. Eventually, I was let go. I’ve been actively trying to find new work, but it’s been extremely difficult in this area. My car is old and in poor condition. Both tires are currently flat, and the car frequently cuts off, which makes it unreliable and unsafe to drive. Just replacing the tires and making basic repairs will cost several hundred dollars. While getting back home (about 25 hours away) would ultimately cost much more—including gas and additional repairs—that isn’t my immediate goal. Right now, I just need to make the car functional enough to stabilize my situation. Between tuition (a remaining balance of about $5,200), food, temporary housing, and car repairs, my total expenses are closer to $8,000–$9,000. I know that’s a lot, and I don’t want to ask for more than absolutely necessary. My current goal is $5,000, which would help cover immediate needs like food, temporary shelter, initial car repairs, and part of my tuition—enough to get me off the ground and moving forward. Any donation, no matter the amount, would make a real difference. Even sharing this page means more than I can express. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for any support you’re able to give.
