With broken hearts, we mourn the passing of Melissa Morgan, a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend after a six-year battle with metastatic breast cancer (MBC). Not only were Melissa and her family facing this seemingly insurmountable battle when she was only 36 years old, but they were forced to navigate it during a global pandemic which created unprecedented barriers to an already fraught situation. With the help of her dedicated and loving husband, parents, various family and friends, her team of medical professionals, a community of MBC fighters like herself, as well as her own Herculean strength, willpower, and refusal to give up hope, she was able to keep the fight going far longer than expected. Melissa had so much fight in her that she didn't stop at just fighting for herself. She also fought for every other person in the battle against MBC by raising funds for METAVivor, a mostly volunteer-run organization that uses 90% of donations to fund the MBC research needed to one day transform this diagnosis from terminal to chronic. As her family navigates this unimaginable loss, this support site aims to help surround them with love, practical, and intentional help in the days ahead. Every gesture helps lighten the load and reminds Team Morgan that they are held close by their community during this difficult time.
