Thank you with all our hearts for coming to this page to see how you can help. Many of you know Jean on multiple levels and recognize her as a fighter. One of the hardest things she faces, aside from the upcoming brain surgery, is asking for and receiving help. Jean is typically the first to say, "send me," or "I'll help." After the attacks on 9/11, she didn’t hesitate for a moment. She tirelessly continued investigating, digging on the pile, and working to protect America. This unwavering commitment has resulted in two brain tumors, 22 years later. We tried high doses of radiation, which works for 97% of people, but unfortunately, it didn't work for her. Now, she must undergo brain surgery to remove the tumor closest to her brain stem. This will be a long and grueling surgery, followed by a challenging recovery period. We will need some help post-op. Checking in on Carrie, walking Eddie, preparing meals, maybe a quick vacuum—any small help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your support. It’s going to be a long recovery, and it truly takes a village. We’re grateful you’re part of this village. All updates will be posted on this page.
Dietary restrictions: Jean is allergic to shellfish, capers, mushrooms, eggplant, and apples. She also needs to avoid anything spicy and doesn’t like coconut & raspberry.. She enjoys grilled chicken, potatoes (whether baked, mashed, etc.), Italian food, and simple veggies. After surgery, she’ll probably need to stick to lighter meals that aren’t too calorie-rich. Because of lengthy intubation, she will likely eat soup & yogurt the first week. Carrie doesn’t eat a lot of meat but won’t turn down a good burger and fries. She doesn’t have any food allergies.
