Love for the Akey’s

Crown Point, IN

Story

In September of 2024 I decided to undergo a gastric sleeve to better my life. Since then due to many complications I have since become chronically dehydrated and malnourished. I have undergone many tests and it was a failed sleeve accompanied by severe gastritis and esophagitis. It has left me very weak and very sick. I have been unable to work and most daily activities have been very hard. I have not shared much about it because I don’t like to complain if I don’t have to. Others have it much worse and this was after all an elective surgery to gain better quality of life. After my second egd showing the severity of damage to my stomach and esophagus and biopsies it was decided that a revision had to be done with no prep time this time around to mentally and physical prepare. What a journey it has been. I am currently in the hospital and when released will not be able to cook as I usually would or care for the kiddos like normal. Mike will be picking up all the slack. EJ will be returning to the barn and sky will be running around for softball and gymnastics per usual. Mike will be taking me to infusions as well as post op visits and dietary visits. Trying to get some help some days for him to alleviate a little stress. We do have a great support system in place.

Special Notes

At this time anyone sick we do ask that you feel 100% better before coming around. I am limiting visitation for at the least the first two weeks as I am in a lot of pain and very weak at this time. After that I would love to see people as long as they are well and up for sitting with me as I can’t drive for a while.
