My 6 year old great nephew, Brooks Clarfelt, is in the NICU at Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock, battling his way back to health. Brooks is fighting HUS (Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome), a severe and dangerous complication caused by an infection. HUS is triggered by a gastrointestinal infection from E. coli bacteria. The family is staying in Little Rock, which is 3 hours from home. Brooks's medical journey can be followed on his CaringBridge page.
