Wrapped in Love: Standing with Matt in His Cancer Battle

Jackson Township, NJ

W
Story

If you know Brooke, you know she is someone who moves through life’s hardest moments with quiet strength, resilience, and a completely selfless heart, and this family has had more than their fair share of hard times. She is a dedicated mother to her three children and someone who never complains, rarely asks for help, and always keeps moving forward no matter what life throws her way. Recently, her 16-year-old son, Matthew, received an unexpected diagnosis of Stage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. In what can only be described as a miracle, the cancer was discovered during an unrelated doctor’s visit. Matt has approached this challenge with the exact same positivity and optimism as his mom. While his overall outlook is hopeful, he is normally an active young man whose life has had to pause for treatment—and the road ahead will be a steep climb for their entire family. Brooke was in the middle of transitioning between jobs when Matt was diagnosed. That job search is now naturally on hold so she can focus full-time on Matt’s care. Between navigating treatment schedules, managing daily home life, and trying to keep normal routines going, like juggling her daughter’s new competitive dance schedule, the burden on their family is heavy. They are facing immediate financial hurdles, including: Loss of their primary income while Brooke puts her job search on hold to focus on Matt. Travel expenses, including constant driving back and forth to medical appointments with current gas prices. Daily living costs, including reliance on takeout meals on long treatment days when cooking isn't an option. We want to surround Brooke, Matt, and their family with the love, relief, and community support they so deeply deserve right now. 1. Financial Donations: Every contribution—no matter the size—helps ease the immediate burden of lost income, gas, food, and daily living expenses so Brooke can focus entirely on her son. You can donate right from this page via GoFundMe or Venmo, as well as purchase Visa Gift Cards. 2. Tangible Items for Matt: A gift registry has been started for Matt on Amazon. Items are a mix of comfort items to help with treatments and the effects of it, along with gift cards that will help with food on the long treatment days. More items will be added along the way as his needs change. Matthew's Amazon List is linked right on this page or https://tinyurl.com/Matthew-Care-List 3. Homecooked Meals- If you'd rather contribute in another way, sign up below to bring dinner on treatment days. Please NO PEANUTS (allergy) and no sushi as raw food are not safe during treatment. 4. Share This Page: Please consider sharing this link with your network to help spread the word and of course, your prayers are welcome. Brooke has spent so much time being the strong one for everyone else through many hard seasons. Now, it’s our turn to step in, carry some of that weight, and wrap this family in love. Thank you so much for your generosity, prayers, and support! Anything and everything is appreciated! (This page is being run by Brooke’s close friend of almost 30 yrs. with the approval of the family. All money donated or items purchased will sent directly to them.)
