Sadie Prater Barron

Story

Sadie will be admitted on Wednesday the 14th for surgery preparation, with her procedure scheduled for Thursday the 15th. While our dear friend and colleague would never ask for help, many have reached out asking how they can support her family during this time. This site will be used to share updates and coordinate thoughtful gestures of kindness for them. Please keep Sadie in your thoughts for a smooth surgery and quick recovery, and send calm, steady vibes to Matt, Samantha, and Theodore as they walk through this together. Copied from Sadies Facebook Page - if you need more information. TLDR: I have a large benign brain tumor and will be having surgery to remove it on January 15, 2026. Q: What? When did this happen? A: During the Fair I had a sudden, major migraine headache that took me down for about two days. This was new for me and hasn’t really recurred, but out of an abundance of caution, I went to go see my doctor. He thought I was probably totally fine, but suggested I get an MRI just in case. Q: So what did the MRI show? A: I have a large tumor, about the size of a plum called an olfactory groove meningioma. It is pressing into my brain and causing significant swelling. Because of its size it needs to come out before it starts doing permanent harm like seizures, loss of sense of smell, blindness, personality changes, the ability to walk, etc. Q: Who is going to be operating? A: They have assigned two separate neurosurgeons out of UT Southwestern to work on me. I have great faith. They’re both gonna do a really good job. Q: Do you or the kids need anything? A: I am very blessed by the love and care of all my friends and family and at this time I don’t need anything additional, but I appreciate your love, caring, hope, and prayers.

Special Notes

Quite a few people have asked how to help Sadie’s family during her surgery and recovery. We have set up this page to accept donations for the Prater Barron family as they navigate the next few weeks. Donations via gift cards or the links provided on this site are recommended. We have included a small wish list, and Tom Thumb and Costco are frequently shopped. QuikTrip is where they typically purchase gas. If you would like to drop off food, please contact Matt directly to coordinate timing around their schedule.
