June 12, 2026 my mom, Kacee Bock had a routine knee replacement. Everything was going great and she was doing PT, able to move around the house and cook more. Then on July 12, 2026 she noticed some weeping near the incision. July 13th she had a bandaid covering the area and it ended up leaking through and she called the transitional medical team that evening. She went to the doctor on the 14th because it was looking pretty bad. It wasn’t her doctor and he only took pictures and ordered blood work. July 16th my mom actually texted her doctor who had her go to his office to see him. He wanted to schedule surgery for the next morning but hearing what she has been through before he scheduled emergency surgery that day! My mom had my brother and was going to drive home to get me but the doctor advised against that. My grandpa Mike drove me over to where she was and take my brother home. I stayed with my mom until her surgery, the doctor called me and said he cleaned it out and that there was an infection he cleaned out. He placed a wound vac and an immobilizer. Once she woke up in recovery, we all talked and then I drove her home. July 23rd she was supposed to go just see the PA and have the wound vac and immobilizer removed and be good to continue her recovery BUT the incision was WORSE!! The PA asked the doctor to come in. They both left the room and then the PA came back and said we will do another major clean out tomorrow and place a deep wound vac. She will need to stay the night at the hospital as well. So, July 24th she had the surgery, the deep wound vac and immobilizer were placed. The doctor said she will have the wound vac at least one month possibly up to two months. She spent the night and came home yesterday the 25th. My brother doesn’t do a lot of cooking. During weekdays I typically am doing DoorDash as a second job starting at 4:30 p.m to 8:30 p.m. (sometimes 9:30 pm), and my dad doesn’t get home until after 6:00-6:30. By the time he gets home he is tired and in pain from standing on his feet all day (he works at the post office) so it makes it difficult to make meals. With me working those hours I will eat whatever was for dinner the night before as my brunch or lunch meal. For the past week since the second surgery (7/16) my dad has been picking up food for dinner from fast food places (because they have drive thru lines) but that is getting expensive. Also my mom does Keto so that can be harder to order and more expensive at places sometimes too. Typically Saturdays we get together with my dad’s family and Sundays my dad does some cooking. My mom is supposed to go back to work on August 3rd so it will be even more difficult. I know my parents really hate to ask for help but if you can help my family with getting meals I would greatly appreciate it.
My mom does keto (lots of protein and vegetables) We have a dog that is very protective so visiting is very difficult.
