Story

On November My mom kept getting sick and was down harder than we’ve ever seen her. You all know it’s bad when my mom stops moving, helping, working. She put in her symptoms and the urgent care told her to go to the ER. Then the internet said she might have Leukemia and that darn symptom tracker was not a scare tactic for once. My dad took her in November 3rd and she’s been hospitalized ever since. November 12th she was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. She is extremely immune compromised. She will not be allowed to go home until after her 4 weeks of chemo. She is also not allowed visitors except myself and my Dad because of the extreme safety precautions for her. She is in her usual good spirits though and surprising the doctors with her ability to be up and about. Thank God for all of her involvement in the running associations. She’s knows it’s a marathon and always has had the ability to keep her head up and a positive attitude. If she doesn’t answer messages right away it’s because they are waking her up almost every hour to monitor an infection that tried to sneak in. So please give her patience.

Special Notes

Because of the no visitors allowed food delivery is a little difficult as dad is trying to isolate as well. If he gets sick, he is not allowed at the hospital with her. However Walmart/HEB gift cards could come in handy as I could order grocery delivery for him. We did add a few Amazon items that she has expressed interest in as well in the Amazon wish list. Things like toothbrushes that she was required to throw away daily because of the chemo.
