Many of you have been praying for my dear friend Esther and her daughter, Juliet. Juliet was recently diagnosed with ALCAPA (Anomalous Left Coronary Artery from the Pulmonary Artery), a rare congenital heart defect in which the left coronary artery arises from the pulmonary artery instead of the aorta. Because of this, the heart muscle does not receive the oxygen-rich blood it needs. Although Juliet has done remarkably well, this condition requires open-heart surgery to permanently correct the abnormal artery and restore normal blood flow to her heart. There was encouraging news this week: Juliet’s cardiac MRI showed no evidence of heart muscle scarring, despite living with this condition for nine years. That is a tremendous answer to prayer and gives her surgical team an excellent foundation going into surgery.
